Jesus Power Retreat Center

Our Story

Jesus Power School of Ministry and Retreat Center (Grace Centre) is a ministry of JPower Coldwater Foundation, founded by Apostle Bismark Osei Akomeah, a Ghanaian-American minister based in Columbus, Ohio, USA. The vision was born from a profound spiritual encounter during a visit to the cave of Engedi in Israel, where the biblical narrative of David sparing Saul's life ignited a fervent desire to create a place where God could train and empower those called to ministry, especially the less privileged.

Inaugurated on April 24, 2024, by Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, the US$1.8 million facility is located at Abbey Korpe (Abbeykope), Dawhenya, near Tema in the Greater Accra Region. The centre features 20 spaciously furnished dormitory rooms and 15 executive rooms, accommodating up to 300 guests. It also boasts a 1,200-seater modern auditorium, a 3,000+ book library, eight 50-seater meeting rooms, a prayer garden, sanctuary, cafeteria, and lecture halls.

We are affiliated with Global University USA, offering Practical Ministry and Leadership programs that combine academic rigor with hands-on ministry experience. With a mission to plant churches in rural communities across Ghana and Africa, the Grace Centre stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment, poised to train and equip individuals called into God's ministry.

Our name — Jesus Power — reflects our belief in the transformative power of Christ to change lives, raise leaders, and advance God's Kingdom on earth.

Vision & Purpose

The vision and purpose of the JPower Coldwater Foundation and Grace Centre Retreat Center.

Our Vision

The urge to establish and operate the JPower Coldwater Foundation comes from a unique story — well documented in the book, "Product of Grace" — which chronicles a long and laborious walk from rejection, hopelessness, and obscurity, without any requisite formal education, into the wonderful service of Jehovah God. The ideals of the Foundation draw strength and ground themselves in Scripture found in Colossians 1:25-29.

Our Purpose

The JPower Coldwater Foundation's fundamental purpose shall be:

  1. To provide resources, assistantships, and general logistics to Pastors in deprived areas and regions of the world, in order to help them realize the fruits of what the Lord has called them to do (Matthew 10:42).
  2. To serve as the main umbrella under which the JPower School of Ministry and Retreat Center (JPSMRC) will operate, including all other future projects. The JPSMRC shall perform three distinct functions:
    • To play a pioneering role in training and equipping underprivileged young men and women in our society, who have a calling upon their lives, for their dreams to materialize — encouraged by the Scripture: "God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise" (1 Corinthians 1:27a).
    • To serve as a place of temporal refuge, meditation, and soul-searching for individuals who are not only distressed, but also helpless and hopeless in finding a way forward. The aim is to create an environment of reverence, which shall serve as a sanctuary for those who have missed their way or backslidden due to unforeseen circumstances, yet seeking to re-channel their destinies and return to the Lord Jesus Christ.
    • To serve as a conference center for Christian groups and organizations to meet and effectively work and craft programs for God's Kingdom advancement, while seeking the face of God — believing that "those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty" (Psalm 91:1).
